Patio Coatings

Patios & Exterior

Concrete patio coatings that survive Idaho outdoors

Exterior concrete has the hardest job on the property: soaked in spring, baked all summer, frozen and salted all winter. A proper exterior system — UV-stable polyaspartic over a ground and sealed slab — turns a stained, flaking patio into a finished outdoor floor with real grip underfoot. We coat patios, walkways, steps and pool decks; every exterior job is textured for wet traction, not just gloss.

What You Get

What the system includes.

UV-stable chemistry only

Standard epoxy chalks and ambers outdoors. Exterior slabs get polyaspartic topcoats that hold color through full sun, year after year.

Freeze-thaw sealed

Water that cannot get into the concrete cannot freeze inside it. The sealed system stops the spalling cycle that eats bare Idaho patios.

Texture matched to the use

Pool decks get aggressive wet-traction texture, entry walks get all-season grip, covered patios can run smoother — specified per surface, not one-size.

Before-and-after honesty

Three of the job photos on this site are exterior patios for a reason — it is some of our most visible work, and the befores were rough.

Why It Matters

Why bare exterior concrete keeps losing

Freeze-thaw: moisture soaks into unsealed concrete, freezes, and pops the surface off a flake at a time. Every untreated patio in the valley is somewhere in that cycle.

UV: sun breaks down cheap sealers in a season or two. The system we install is the same chemistry we trust on south-facing garage aprons — it does not chalk out.

Pool water: chlorinated splash and sunscreen are brutal on bare concrete. A coated deck wipes clean, drains fast, and keeps its grip when wet.

Before you get quotes, read the honest version

Exterior work is seasonal — the slab has to hold 50–90°F while the system cures — so the calendar matters as much as the price. Get on the list early.

Questions

Patio Coatings questions we get asked.

Are coated patios slippery when wet?

Not the way we build them. Exterior systems get texture broadcast into the topcoat — pool decks the most aggressive — so wet traction is better than sealed bare concrete, not worse. Ask to feel a sample panel at the walkthrough.

How long does a patio coating last outside?

The polyaspartic systems we install are UV-stable and freeze-thaw sealed — expect many years of service, not a reseal every summer like paint-on deck products. The written warranty spells out exactly what is covered.

Can you coat an old, cracked patio?

Usually — cracks are routed and filled and spalled areas patched before coating, and the flake broadcast hides the repairs well. Badly heaved or settling slabs are the exception; we will tell you at the walkthrough if the concrete needs work a coating cannot do.
